The Importance of Taking Notes
For The College Student
As a college or university student one of the key skills you're going to need is, believe it or not, taking notes during lectures.
Lets break it down.............
Lectures are important because it is during this time your professors and lecturers discuss main ideas and, a good lecturer will breakdown the topic to help students understand. Your duty as a student is to make sure you capture as much information as possible.
It would be ideal if we could listen once and remember forever but that is not the case for most of us. So the next best thing is to note down all the important points on paper.
Of course lecture notes are pointless if they are just going to sit in your desk drawer. The whole point is so that you can use them to review the subject. It will be good if notes are reviewed once a week but students have busy lives apart from studying so I'm going to say once a month, just so it stays fresh in your mind. Then again if you absolutely cannot find the time to go through your notes once a month, those notes will come in handy closer to exam time!
